报告人简介:

熊大曦,研究员,中科院百人计划中国科学院苏州生物医学工程技术研究所光健康研究中心主任。毕业于清华大学,后留学美国获得麻省理工学院机械工程专业博士,2009年底回国,2013年获国务院政府特殊津贴。曾在美国高技术公司和研究所工作过八年,具有较强的工程背景,在光学显微仪器和系统的设计、大功率电子元器件的研发和制造等领域有二十多年的研发和生产经验,是高端光学仪器制造和系统集成方面的专家。目前承担财政部重大仪器专项、国家自然科学基金、国家支撑计划、科技部国际科技合作专项、中科院支撑服务国家战略性新兴产业行动计划项目、江苏省医用光学重点实验室建设等多个项目,项目经费超过5000万元,发表学术论文40多篇,申请专利超过100项,其中已授权专利60项。主要研究领域包括:光学显微成像技术研究和LED医学研究等。

 

报告内容:

LED (Light Emitting diode) has been widely used in general lighting. Also, in many fields of biology and medicine, LED is being accepted as a new lighting source to replace the tradition lighting sources like xenon lamp, metal halide lamp, incandescent lamp, and part of laser, due to its unbeatable advantages. In this presentation, the application status of LED in biomedical engineering, including medical lighting, diagnostics and therapy has been reviewed. Firstly, a brief description of LED developmental history and characteristics of ultrahigh brightness LED is provided. Following that, the application status of LED in medical lighting is introduced. Examples include surgical headlight, endoscope light box, shadowless lamp, and structured illumination microscopy. LED in medical diagnostics are divided in two categories, imaging and spectrum. Imaging systems include endoscope capsule, narrow band intravascular endoscope, early cancer diagnostic system, and so on. LED Spectrum is also widely used in blood analysis system, Optogentics, and chemical analysis spectrograph. In medical therapy like PDT, LED can completely replace laser. Also, it has been widely used in optical physical therapy and cosmetology. In summary, as a new solid state lighting source, LED will penetrate the whole application field of medicine and biology. A new subdiscipline, LED Biomedical Engineering, is being gradually established.
